Brief Information
Indigenous dialects of German in Russia are also called Siberian-German dialects, dialects of Russian Germans. German dialects in Russia can be divided into two groups: Low German (the language of Mennonites, or Plautdietsch) and mixed High German. Endonyms for various idioms of the latter are the following: Swabian (Schwäbisch), Hessian (Hessisch), Catholic (Kelsch), Lutheran (Lutherisch), Volga German (Wolgadietsch).
